Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
I'm running the London Marathon this year for the Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign (NSC). The money raised will primarily support education projects. As the second poorest country in Latin America, hundreds of thousands of Nicaraguan children can't afford to go to school and the NSC works to change that. The Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua was also badly hit by Hurricane Felix in September - destroying 90% of crops in the area and many schools. The photograph shows the only special needs school in the area - funds are being channelled through local organisations to help rebuild this school and support communities that need it the most.
NSC works with a very small staff and volunteer network in the UK so you can be sure that your donation will be used efficiently to support local people in the areas worst affected.
From an admittedly poor base of fitness I'm now training hard in the evenings and at weekends. The pain is considerable but the gaps between uncrontollable coughing fits are getting longer. You're more than welcome to come and laugh at my pain on the 13th April. Don't turn up too early to cheer/barrack me over the finish line as you may have a long wait. You must sponsor me first though or I won't be responsible for my actions.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: NSC will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Sponsoring me online now is also the best way to avoid me cornering you in embarrassing social situations with my sponsor form or persistently emailing you to ask for cash (and I will).
You'll forget if you put it off to later so sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support!
PS: thanks so far to Storm, Vicky, Lennart, Louise, Donna and Matthew for offline donations.
