Story
Hello, my name is Steve Cooper and I’m delighted to be running the Flora London Marathon 2007 on 22nd April in order to raise money on behalf of cbit.
My association with cbit came about as a result of my niece Becki suffering an acquired brain injury one week before Christmas in 2005. Following some incredibly dark hours, I am pleased to say that Becki has been making a remarkable recovery, culminating in her returning to her old Secondary School in January of this year.
This will be my first ever marathon, and so my training is being governed by a number of books on the topic - along with my latest toy, a Heart Rate Monitor! Since running the Cardiff Half marathon in September last year I had retained a level of fitness, but training suddenly got serious again when I heard the news in early December that cbit had chosen me to represent them in the next London Marathon. Although I had a 2 week setback over Christmas (due to the dreaded man-flu!) I am now back on track to be ready for the big challenge come April 22nd.
Fund raising has got off to a fairly low-key start, but I now have my first donation via this web page (thank you Dawsie!) and am beginning to get a few names on the paper donations forms.
Because you are already reading this you will no doubt be aware of the excellent work that cbit do, and so I urge you to help me to raise funds for them digging deep and sponsoring me.
Then tell everyone you know that they can do the same!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Child Brain Injury Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thank you.
Stop Press!! – Have just been informed that the company for which I work, Enpure Ltd, is sponsoring me to the tune of £250! Many thanks to the Directors.
