Story

Stephen Gately tragically died on 10th October 2009 while on holiday with his husband Andrew on the island of Mallorca. Andrew has requested that any donations should be made to the Caudwell Children Charity for whom Stephen was an ambassador.

 

Official statement from Caudwell Children:

Boyzone singer, Stephen Gately who tragically died on 10th October, was a Goodwill Ambassador for the Stoke-based charity, Caudwell Children. In recent years he has attended many of the Charity's fundraising events with husband, Andrew Cowles and the Boyzone band members. Stephen also auctioned a private performance at the Charity's Christmas ball in Cheshire, raising thousands of pounds for the Charity which provides donations to sick and disabled children acoss the UK.
 
Trudi Beswick, CEO of Caudwell Children: "Everyone at the Charity is deeply saddened by Stephen Gately's death. Stephen and his fellow band mates have supported the Charity at numerous events and Stephen himself was an official ambassador for the Charity. Our thoughts are with Andrew (Cowles) and his friends and family, he will be missed by the children and everyone at the Charity."
