Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
For those of you who knew my father David, no introduction will be needed,
For those of you who don't: my father David was a vicar for his working life mostly in Dorset. He had a love for people and was known for his warmth and enthusiasm for life - he always found the time to talk to people and was fascinated by what made people 'tick'.
Dad was always an outdoor person and had a real passion for mountains and hills fuelled by our many visits as a family to the Grampians in Scotland. His other passions centred around his family, friends and his belief.
One of the most frustrating aspects of his illness was the lack of knowledge of how to treat his illness and the fact that there was no known treatment for it. The only drug that may have been of any real assistance was not available through the NHS and by the time we had found out about it and undergone consultation, it was unfortunately too late to be of any benefit.
I will be undertaking a 100 mile cycle ride to Stonehenge and back on June 20th (just after what would have been his 73rd birthday and the day before Fathers Day) with a close friend (or two) to help raise money for this valuable charity. Whilst Cancer Research and other high profile charities are well supported, this lesser known charity aims specifically to help kidney cancer sufferers and to help fund research into this type of the disease. At present, there is no known cure for the type of kidney cancer Dad contracted and we hope that through donations to this fund, effective therapy can be developed to help save lives.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: James Whale Fund Ltd gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
