In September last year my birth certificate claimed I was 50.  I knew this had to be some sort of mistake, and decided on various ill advised projects to try to persuade others that I am in fact much younger.  The London Marathon is the first of these.  Unfortunately, the main effect of the training programme to date is to tend to confirm the accuracy of my birth certificate…..

Still, however painful the process is, at least I have the luxury of choosing the challenge which is not the case for Steven (pictured) or others at Get Kids Going.  So, please help me to raise money to help give them a small taste of the freedom we all take for granted.

Update 16/4/09: Just finished the last long run of my training schedule, which is an enormous relief.  I have various niggling injuries that will hopefully clear up with rest of the next 10 days.  Then all that remains is the race itself!  Please all keep fingers crossed for cool weather.  Thank you to everyone for your fabulous generosity.  The special wheelchairs are £3,200 each, so together with what I have on my separate sponsorship form we are on the way to getting three of them.
