Story
Welcome, welcome you lovely people.
You may recall that I ran the London Marathon back in 2005 for the Prostate Cancer Charity shortly after my Dad was diagnosed. He's been having various treatments ever since but manages to maintain a positive outlook and fighting spirit thanks in no small part to the support of friends and family.
Thanks to many generous donations, last time around I raised a total £4,000 for the charity. This time around I have (finally!) managed to get a ballot place, so there's no specific target that I have to raise, but of course, the more, the better.
I'm not going to pretend that running the marathon will be an insurmountable challenge to me, or that I won't enjoy every single sweaty minute of it. So as an extra incentive for sponsorship there will be a mystery gift for the person who guesses closest to my finishing time. You can put your guess in the comments section when you make a donation. The person who is furthest away gets my stinky running top... (to guide you, my 2005 LM time was 3:33:20, and my marathon PB is 3:27:12 in Berlin in 2007, but then of course I'm not getting any younger.)
Thanks, and good luck!
(this is the official bit)
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Prostate Cancer Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
