Story

I try to raise money for charity every year & this year I am running 10k for Cancer Research with my fantastic daughter Megan (aged 10) and my niece Zoe (aged 13).

I am the perfect example of " It will never happen to me" but it did and i am lucky to live to tell the tale. Others are not so lucky.

In 2013 I was diagnosed with the early start of Breast Cancer. Lots of tests, operations and a mastectomy later, Pathology results showed the cancer had started to grow and develop further. The size of  the cancer was only 3mm off me needing chemotherapy but because it was caught in time it didn't come to that and for that I feel very thankfull.

If it was not for Cancer Research coming as far as it has then I may not have been diagnosed as early as I was and may be telling a completely different story now.

5 months on from my diagnosis and 12 weeks on from my operation I have entered the 5k pretty muddy event In June and a 5k race for life event in July. I still have a long way to go before i'm 100% again and  At the moment the exercise and training I can do is limited but In June and July I fully intend to finish each of these events even if I have to crawl over the finish line!

The 10k is split over 2 events. The reason being is my 10 year old daughter Megan wanted to take part but isn't old enough to enter the 5k Muddy event so we are entering a further 5k race in July so she can take part.

Please dig deep and sponsor us to do these events even if it's just £1 as every £1 counts and will help me reach my target. Donating online is easy, safe and secure.

Events like Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.

Gift Aid it!

If you're a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box as this will increase your donation by at least 25% at no cost to you.

One day we will beat cancer. Help us make it sooner.
