I am planning to cycle (yes cycle!!) from London to Paris in October this year. Together with my friend Jacqui, and eight of her work colleagues the team will set off from Redhill on 6^th October and cycle the 79 mile route to Dover before catching the ferry to Calais. Day two will see us tackle a further 86 miles to Aimens before the final days ride to Paris (just 90 miles!). After completing the Esher to Hove bike ride back in June, I felt I needed a bigger challenge to test the old legs (although regretting it now) and with just four weeks to go have finally decided to give up alcohol (temporarily) whilst I train for the long journey ahead.

I thought it would be a good opportunity to raise some money for The Fountain Centre, based at St Luke’s Hospital, Guildford that supports people living with cancer. It was an easy decision to support the centre, not only because so many people are affected by the disease but because my sister-in-law Emma has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and has begun her treatment there. Emma is doing really well and it was partly her request that the money raised be sent to the centre so others can benefit from the fantastic support and care she has received.
