Yes, it is true, I'm cycling from the south to the north with my eldest daughter Holly to raise money for Kangaroos.
As many of you will know, our Son Leo has Downs Syndrome. Kangaroos is a charity who provide out of school activities for children with severe learning disabilities and has become an important part of Leo's life. It's a chance for Leo to access many activities with friends enabling him to be a little more independant and helping to preparing him for his life ahead in a world where 'normal' has become a word often over used and perhaps missunderstood.
The services provided through Kangaroos are vital to many families in giving much needed time out to the whole family. The work they do always amazes me. Many volunteers give up their spare time at a weekend and during school holidays to help look after the many children supported by this charity.
I recognise that this is a huge challenge of a cycle ride. It's 1000 miles from end to end! While it's going to be 2 weeks of agony and frustration, it's nothing compared to what Leo has been through over the last 12 years of his life. To help me along the way I will be joined by my eldest daughter Holly! Who will be leading the way on our little adventure.
I very much hope I can extend the fundraising target many times over, this is a very worth cause. Please, help this charity to survive through these times of economic difficulty we find our world in.
