On the first day the rain never stopped falling which made it hard to peddle when you are cycling through mud; but we both kept a smile on our faces and plodded on reaching a town called Rugeley by the end of the first day.

Only 90 miles to go and we needed to be in Banbury for dinner to have any chance of making it on time. It was an early start again and by using some of the country lanes we managed to make up some time, and at last the sun was shining.

We made Banbury just before 2pm and after a coffee and a bite to eat we set out for the last 30 miles, and what a 30 miles it was! To say it was hilly is an understatement, but with teeth and other parts of the body clenched we made it to Alvescot around 8ish, very sore but also planning next years ride.
