Huntington's disease is a neurological disorder causing involuntary movement, problems with thinking, and also often there are psychiatric problems.  The condition develops in midlife and offspring have a 50% risk of inheriting the gene that causes the disease. 

I have had a great deal of involvement with families affected by HD in my career as a nurse, and have been inspired by their courageous approach to living with unbelievable difficulties.  I would like to give something back and allow you the opportunity to join in by being a sponsor-  I am going to attempt to ride from Norfolk, England UK, to the Transfaggarassen Highway in Romania and back.  (...and back is pretty important to me and to my two sons, Simon and Dan who are also doing the ride).  The 5,000 mile journey is expected to take the whole of August 2011. 

It would be great if I could raise £1000 for the Huntington's Disease Association.  Many of the families regard this fantastic organisation as their lifeline.
