At 50+ with a somewhat fuller figure and no previous sporting achievements to boast of, I made a resolution on New Years Eve to follow the Olympic ideal and undertake something that would not only give me a sense of achievement, but would help to make a positive contribution to supporting people with disabilities. Support  The Oaklea Trust organisation whose purpose is to support and assist children and adults with disabilities towards independence and lead fulfilled lives within their communities.

Just in case I forgot to tell you, my Marathon Run will commence on Friday 11 May 2007 and will be completed a few days later in Marathon Greece, the start of the original ancient and modern Olympic event. The run will take me through 8 Countries and almost the breadth of Europe. I have commenced my training with a simple 50 miles per day astride my Kawasaki GTR1000 touring bike - I did tell you I was doing it on my motorcycle didn’t I?  My route is estimated at 2000 miles/3200 kilometres.
