Hi, I've been very slack on the fund raising front (and exercise for that matter) in the last few years so thought I would take the opportunity whilst I'm out here in Oz to combine the two and give something back (all those who were with me at university will recognize this central message from many of my election campaigns!) I'm running the city to surf race here in Sydney on 9th August which is a 14km run over some fairly hilly terrain, in the middle of winter - they think the temperature might drop as low as 15 degrees centigrade, positively arctic! My uncle passed away this week having battled with cancer for the last five years (regrettably it is a hereditary form of the disease and his son has also been diagnosed recently.) The Arthur Rank Hospice provided amazing care for him during his illness and so I'm raising money to help them continue the great work they do for other cancer sufferers. I'm sure that you have received many such requests for sponsorship recently but mine comes with an added incentive, if you don't sponsor me I'll set my centurion friend on you and he means business, Roman style!
