My story

1 Why does Mencap need its very own Santa?

Because then you can guarantee you will get Christmas presents, regardless of how good or bad you have been!

Seriously though, have you seen that old codger lately! We need a new Santa to take the reigns (pun intended) from the old boy to serve the Mencap community specifically. The reason Mencap needs a Santa is:

·        Fighting for change and understanding – who is going to say no to Santa

·        Supporting people with a learning disability – its a bit quiet between January and November, so would be available to work a few shifts

·        Unique selling point – how many other organisations have a Santa!

·        Rebranding – I would be happy to swap the old red suit for a new branded outfit

·        Fundraising & Campaigns – Surely I would be the biggest and best celebrity fundraiser/ campaigner

·        Green delivery service – just think of the savings of having your monthly pay slip and edition of Connect hand delivered by Santa, all at no cost and free from carbon emissions

·        Growth  Strategy – with all those mince pies I am going to eat I think I can achieve an easy 20% growth on my waistband by Christmas

PS- I am available for Weddings, Funerals and Tender presentations

2 What special qualities do you have that would make you the perfect Santa for 2007

Well obviously a magnificent white beard and a rather fetching red 100% wool jumpsuit

Much is made of my longevity, my ability to get round every single house in the world in a single night and my ability to know whether you have been naughty or nice.

However what people don’t know is of the estimated 2 billion children in the world I only have to deliver to 15% of this total (those who are not Muslim, Hindu, Jewish or Buddist), which means I only really have a mere 378 million children to deliver to. Even then if I go round the world East to West I actually have up to 31 hours to deliver them because of time zones – see its not such a big deal!!

I would be the perfect Santa because:

·        Well, leading the Business Support Centre means that I will make sure that the team in Peterborough get your Christmas pay to you in time for that last minute shopping

·        I will treat you all the same regardless of which Business Unit you work for

·        Have you seen the picture? I am an obvious choice surely!

·        I am very flexible, and will happily receive brandy and mince pies any time you like - not just on Christmas Eve

Santa is responsible for upholding the magic and spirit of Christmas. If you could grant the Mencap community one wish what would it be

BOGOF! – no, not an unfestive insult – but Buy One Get One Free.

The Santa market is getting tighter and tighter, so this Santa has a special offer this Christmas, of buy one get one free!

Wish: Of course, Santa would wish that people with learning

disabilities were given the same opportunities as everyone else in society and free from discrimination. (Cost: £0)

Get One Free: For everyone in Mencap to feel like they receive an excellent service from the Business Support Centre

For those of you who wrote to me wanting free chocolate at work – I looked in the mirror and realised it would not be good for me (or you!)

Ps: please note that Santa will seriously have to consider charging from next year – I have a family and reindeers to feed!

I am only one of a number of  Santa ‘Wannabees’. If you would like to see who my competitors are this year you can visit their links below. But please PLEASE don’t vote for them, VOTE FOR ME – after all, you don’t want to risk being put you onto my ‘naughty children’ list do you?!
