I am planning on running the 32nd Course De L'Escalade in Geneva on the 5th December 2009.

 

I will be running in memory of Jean Hepplewhite and Joan Kennedy who both sadly died of lung cancer this time last year.

 

Jean had a major impact on my life and taught me the importance of 'doing the right thing' whatever the consequences. During her illness we became very close often chatting and 'putting the world to right'. She truly was a trusted friend and work colleague and I miss her dearly.

 

Joan was a lady that showed great dignity during her illness. The help and care given by her husband David and all the family was a credit to them and something which I will never forget. I miss her humour and laughter.

 

Over the past year Lung Cancer has affected me so much both personally and professionally. A couple of my mates have also been affected in some way by cancer (you know who you are).

 

So for Jean and Joan and me mates I will be running for THE ROY CASTLE LUNG FOUNDATION this year.
