Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Those that know me will know that road cycling is a bit of a passion for me. This year one of my rides is partnered by Macmillan Cancer Support, and so I’ve set myself an additional challenge of raising some money for their very good cause. Macmillan does an invaluable job of improving the lives of people affected by cancer. They provide practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care. Cancer affects so many people, directly or indirectly, so please help me to raise some money for this fantastic organisation.
The Etape Caledonia is an 81 mile cycle challenge taking place on 16th May on traffic-free roads in the stunning scenery of Highland Perthshire. Obviously, given the location, I’m expecting it to be a little hilly (the description says something about 1,949 metres of climbing), but for every ‘up’ there’s a ‘down’! The roads for this ride are closed to all other traffic, but to ensure that the roads are reopened to the schedule agreed with the authorities, I’ll need to maintain an average speed of 13-14 mph around the course. This gives me at least 6h 15mins to reach the finishing line before the roads are re-opened. However, my goal will be to complete the course in around five hours.
Thanks a million for taking the time to read this, but please don’t leave the site without making a donation; whatever you can afford - anything will help.
