My personal message:

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Please read on to understand just why I devote so much of my time to this worthy charity, and I hope you will sponsor me with this years walk of 8 miles around Richmond Park, join me if you dare!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Laura Sadler Memorial Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

The aim of the Fund is to provide practical and financial support to give young actors and actresses the opportunity to realise their dreams. It is really making a difference for those selected. Some of those students being helped now are making their professional stage debut in The Sound of Music and in Billy Elliot.

In 2003 we ran for Laura, raising over £15,000.

In 2005 the first Butterfly Ball raised almost £20,000 on the night.

In 2006 we jumped for Laura, raising almost £2,000.

In 2007 we walked for Laura, raising around £5,000 .

The Butterfly Balls in 2006 and 2007 raised some £27,000.

By the end of 2007 the Fund had helped 14 young people. Awards have gone to students from the Sylvia Young Theatre School, The Bridge, RADA, E15 and for special educational projects at The Factory. Awards have ranged from £250 to £5,000. In 2007 the Fund was able to award over £28,000.

Fund raising is done through events approved by the Trustees and carried out them and by volunteers. There are no paid employees of the charity and no fees are paid to the Trustees or volunteers.

As the work of the Fund becomes better known, it is receiving more requests for help. It was been able to make several more awards for 2007, now that it is consolidating its core funding.

Applications can be made at any time of the year to the Trustees from young aspiring actors who are attending drama schools. A number of awards have already been made for 2008.

‘Thank you for helping me continue on this journey and letting me be part of something that keeps me alive, so please accept my sincere thank yous, because you’ll never know how much you and your fund has helped me. I feel honoured.’ says Sophie Stone, who is the first deaf student studying at RADA, whom the Fund is now helping for a second year with her special needs for signing and note-taking.

Sophie was able to attend the second Butterfly Ball and wrote afterwards to Sonya ‘it was an amazing feeling to feel part of your appeal and how much work you go to, to ensure people like myself can achieve the same dreams as your daughter and her achievements.’
