Sand Dams Worldwide supports people living in drylands to build sand dams, and grow enough food to feed and support their families. Sand dams empower communities, putting the future firmly in their own hands. They provide a lifelong supply of clean water, transforming thousands of lives.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This August I'm cycling from London to Nice. I'll be camping all the way and carrying everything with me.

I'll be riding from London to Geneva, then tackling the  "Route des Grandes Alps"

You can follow my adventure at www.powpow.co.uk

If you'd like to give me some encouragement to actually ride all the way and not hop on a train, please sponsor me and help to raise money for Excellent Development.

Excellent do great work with communities in Kenya to help themto help themselves. If you'd like to know more, please have a look at their website http://www.excellentdevelopment.com/ where you can also find some short films that I worked on with them.

This is how the Route des Grandes Alpes is described on their website:

“17 passes- of which 5 are classified as being outside the categories- amongst the most mythical, with more than 17,000 metres of differences in height, that is 3 times the Mont Blanc… The ‘Grandes Alpes’ Route is a monument to the efforts of touring cyclists. Its link with the legendary ‘Tour de France’ route, mainly explains its popularity with tourists: the Route is a challenge, a way that is full of pitfalls, so getting to the end is really an exploit. It is one of the biggest challenges for cyclists to take up.”

You can follow my progress on my blog www.powpow.co.uk where I'll let you know exactly how much I'm suffering!
