MONTÉLIMAR - MONT VENTOUX
20th July 2009

Thanks to everyone at Vion Food Group and Hammonds for their generosity and support in raising £2,640 in aid of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Association!

As for my little challenge it was a fantastic day in the end. You may have seen the TV coverage of the same leg in the Tour de France the following Saturday - when Contador sealed his Yellow Jersey and Armstrong, Wiggins and co. showed us how it should be done!

I finished in just over 9 hours - temperatures in the mid-30s. A stunning route sweeping through the hills and lavender-filled valleys from Montelimar to Mont Ventoux. My ascent of Ventoux took some 2 1/2 hours (plus a little rest at the feed station!).

Thanks again

Steve
