Story
Hello and thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I know many people will ask you to donate money to charities so thank you in advance for your donation.
After many months of training in the wind and rain and lack of sun this summer, the countdown for the marathon is just over 3 weeks away. The West Highland Way has proven to be a great training ground and I am determined to finish in around 4 hours or less!
I've attended many charity lunches and dinners over the past few years and none have touched me more than the lunch to support the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Hearing in detail the impact of this life-threatening disease to every sufferer and their families was incredibly emotional and touching, this then motivated me to help this charity.
Cystem Fibrosis (CF) do a fantastic job in research to develop a cure and provide treatments; provide care for those with CF and provide information, advice, support and financial assistance to anyone affected by CF.
Cystic Fibrosis affects over 8,000 in the UK.
Over two million people in the UK carry the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis - around 1 in 25 of the population.
If two carriers have a child, the baby has a 1 in 4 chance of having Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food.
Each week, five babies are born with Cystic Fibrosis.
Each week, three young lives are lost to Cystic Fibrosis.
Average life expectancy is around 31 years, although improvements in treatments mean a baby born today could expect to live for longer.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cystic Fibrosis Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please, please sponsor me now!
