A quick bit about Steve:
I am 42. I used to be sport billy, but right now I am very unfit and apart from the occassional game of golf I have not excercised properly for about three years! I have dodgy knees and a spare tyre that Pirelli would be proud of!
I live in Swindon and work in Wantage and every day I drive to work on my 30-mile journey I always tell myself that I should cycle occassionally...then I think yeah right...I know I won't be able to move for days afterwards...so let's go to the pub instead.
Anyway madness has finally overcome me and I have decided to ride the bike (already I am wincing about not being able to sit down for a week) but I am going to do it for a great cause "Jeans for Genes"
Jeans For Genes are the UK children's charity that aims to change the world for children with genetic disorders.
Individually, genetic disorders are rare but together they affect 1 in 25 children born in the UK - that's more than 30,000 babies each year. Their associated health problems mean that genetic disorders are the biggest killer of children aged 14 years and under.
How Your Money Helps
Jeans for Genes provides funding for the care and support of children with genetic disorders. They also help to fund research into genetics and the development of effective treatments and cures. Each year Jeans For Genes offer funding to a range of charities.
That's where Just Giving Comes In
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now and think of the fat bloke on his bike swearing and sweating his way across 30 miles of bumpy roads on a saddle that could give a papercut!
