Story

Thanks for visiting my BRAND NEW fundraising page on behalf of the June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund (JHMRF).

I am in the process of broadening my fundraising activities to include not only SPORT, but most recently MUSIC.

Despite being a sufferer from this terrible disease, I completed a number of road races including the Reading Half Marathon and the Wokingham Half in 2009.

During 2009 I was Reading Roadrunners' Charity Coordinator. Together with fellow Club members we raised well over £40K.

Most of this money will go to fund a research project in St Mary's College London aimed at isolating an organic compound known to be active against mesothelioma cells.

Since then I have continued to collect money for this charity, largely thanks to the generosity of friends and former work colleagues. Some have collected funds through the tried and tested method of marathon sponsorship - while others have done so through a vareity of musicel events.

The concert by the piano trio at Lea Barn in Cookham early next year is an excellent example of this!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So if you are a music lover - or marathon runner! - please sponsor the Fund now!

About the charity

The Fund was created in 1997 to raise awareness of mesothelioma, fund research, and to support patients and carers. We have raised more than £1 million, mostly in small donations from those personally affected, for research, a helpline and educational/information events across the country.
