Why running?

I've been involved in sport since I was very young, but for as long as I can remember, the art of running has been a mystery to me. I see people jogging on the road side, making it look easy, yet whenever I've tried I've failed miserably. I swear it's unnatural!

The furthest I've "run" (a very loose term in my case) in my life is probably a mile, and no doubt then I was spent afterwards. I'd love to learn though.

Why the Cambourne 10K?

Running is something I've wanted to master for a while now, so when someone told me about the Cambourne 10K run at the beginning of January 2012, I thought this was the target and motivation I needed. Playing football in Cambourne every week also means I'm familiar with the place and people, who I have a strong affection for.

Why United through Sport?

Running 10K isn't something to be sniffed at for sure, but achieving this isn't enough in my mind.

I see it as a privilege that I have this opportunity to train and potentially run. There are those who don't have that chance, which I saw first-hand when I went to Kenya in 2001. When I decided to do the Cambourne 10K, I knew I wanted to do it for charity.

With Sport and Africa being close to my heart, I was drawn to the work of United through Sport, a charity dedicated to encouraging disadvantaged people to fulfill their potential in sport, health and education.

Please donate

My journey and training started in January 2012 for what, for me, will no doubt be 2 and a half months of agony. I will be regularly updating everyone on my progress - how that will happen I'm not sure of right now, but I let you know :)

All I ask is for donations to a good cause.

Thank you
