I have signed up to take part in the Thames Path Challenge in September to raise money for the RNLI. The challenge is a 100Km (62 miles) endurance walk from Putney to Henley along the Thames Path, with the aim to complete the distance within 24hrs.
The RNLI to a great job acting as our 4th emergency service rescuing 7,964 people in 2012. However it can only continue to do so due to the kind donations by people like you.
Some other facts about the RNLI that you may not have knowm:
1. There are 4 lifeboat stations along the Thames at Gravesend, Tower(Waterloo Bridge), Chiswick and Teddington.
2. Tower and Chiswick are the busiest stations, having a combined total of 720 launches in 2012.
3. Each summer the RNLI provide a lifeguard service on over 180 beaches.
4. The RNLI have a flood rescue team to respond to flooding events in the UK, Ireland and abroad.
