*****VIRGIN LONDON MARATHON, Sunday 25th April 2010*****

Ladies and Gents,

As many of you will be aware, I had to pull out of last year's London Marathon after fracturing my hip during a race just 3 weeks before the big day.

Samaritans have kindly carried my place over to the 2010 London Marathon and I can carry over the sponsorship raised last year as well. As the event details can't be changed on this website, the 2009 marathon details are still on the top left of this page.

I am now fully recovered from the injury and with less than 4 weeks to go to the big day training has gone pretty well with my longest training run of 21 miles completed without incident, so all things are looking good to remaining injury free...touch wood!

To make the months of toil (from last year and this year!) and the circa 3hrs 40mins (hopefully!) of the race worthwhile I am raising money for Samaritans.

Samaritans is a charity most people have heard of, but few know the extent of the work that they do. The Samaritans service is staffed ENTIRELY BY UNPAID VOLUNTEERS, available 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide. Samaritans receive NO government funding, so is entirely dependent on voluntary contributions.

In these troubled economic times, more and more ordinary people will be turning to Samaritans for help and support, stretching their resources. Remember, not everyone has family or friends they feel they can turn to, Samaritans are their only option.

Thank you to everyone who donated last year, your pledge still counts. For those of you who didn't get round to it or have only go to know me within the last year, please, please, can you part with a little bit of your hard earned cash and sponsor my efforts in getting round the 26.2 miles for a worthy cause.

Thanking you in anticipaction,

Steve
