| Our personal message: |
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page to raise money for St Clare Hospice who were so good to Steve in his final days. I am cycling 280 miles from London to Paris for Poppy Appeal on rememberance weekend and the opportunity was too good not to link it and remember a great friend
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Clare West Essex Hospice Care Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support. St Clare Hospice cares for people with life limiting illness such as cancer, end-stage neurological, cardiac, renal or lung disease. St Clare Hospice, rely on the support of local people and organisations for three quarters of their funding. They need to raise at least £2000 a day to enable St Clare Hospice to provide the services that are needed so much. This may seem an impossible task but with the help of people like you they can do it!The In-Patient Unit (IPU), opened in January 2000. It accommodates eight patients in individual rooms with en-suite bathroom. Each room has a patio area which opens on to the beautiful Hospice gardens. St Clare Hospice is committed to delivering holistic care, which means carers and families are supported as well as patients. There is ‘open visiting’ which can include loved ones staying overnight if appropriate. Children and pets are also made to feel welcome as visitors. Patients may be referred by General Practitioners, District Nurses and MacMillan Nurses, as well as hospitals and other Hospices. The Doctors and Nurses in the IPU are trained to care for patients with a life limiting illness in need of Specialist Palliative Care. This includes symptom and pain management, social, spiritual, and psychological support. Some patients choose to be at St Clare Hospice during the last days of their life. If this is their wish then we are able to provide comfort and support to both patient and their loved ones, enabling them to live out their lives to the full with dignity and respect.
