My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I managed to complete the Thames Ring 250 Race, which is believed to be the longest non-stop "running" race ever held in the UK. Commencing at Streatley (upstream of Reading) on Wednesday 24 June 2009, I ran along the Thames Path to Brentford, up the Grand Union Canal to Napton in Warwickshire, down the Oxford Canal to Oxford, where I rejoined the Thames Path to Streatley.  Just the one lap.  Of 250 miles.  I must have been a sight when I finished on the Sunday.

Challenges included a flooded Thames at Richmond, a heatwave with heavy showers, blisters and severe sleep deprivation (which caused me to fall asleep only 15 miles from the end- thanks to the passing cyclist who eventually woke me up!).

I am raising money for Sense International, a charity which helps people in the developing world who are both deaf and blind.  It achieves this by providing specialist education and support to deafblind people, their families and carers.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sense International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me!
