Story
I did it !!
I just want to say an enormous thank you to everyone who supported me in this cause.
It was a gruelling challenge across some of the most difficult cycling terrain I have ever encountered, and all of Zambia is uphill ! I and the team all kept going with plenty of water, warm welcomes and smiles from the rural villagers as we went, and a huge amount of mutual team support within our group.
On the way we visited some of the education and water projects that African Revival is supporting and I saw first hand just how close to the action your money will get. It was truly inspiring to see the way the children and families can be helped and developed through direct community involvement.
There were a few falls, scrapes and injuries along the way, but I am pleased to say none to me other than a few strained muscles and one or two sore bits. The effort of some of the team was heroic with one chap crossing the line after two full days with a broken wrist and another patched up on almost every exposed piece of skin!
It is estimated that the group of thirty raised over £100,000 during the event, which will go directly into the impoverished communities that we encountered first hand. It will truly make a difference.
We finished the ride with a slow approach across the Livingstone Bridge....and as the Victoria Falls emerged to our right in full flood I felt 10 feet tall !!
Thank you everyone.
