Story

STEVE TROTTER MARATHON CHALLENGE 2011

ROBIN HOOD MARATHON, NOTTINGHAM

Sunday 11 September 2011

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 11 September 2011 I will be running the 26.2 miles that is the Robin Hood Marathon. My aim is to the race in under 3hrs45mins meaning I have a massive amount of training ahead of me. You can follow my progress and get updated on my latest marathon news by visiting my blog here.

My other, and primary aim, is to raise at least £1000 for The British Heart Foundation. Over the last 3 years 2 members of my family have been directly affected by heart and cardiac problems.

In November 2008 my father-in-law Philip Backhouse (or 'Mr B' as I affectionately knew him) passed away as a result of a major heart attack, along with further cardiac complications.  Philip was a man who spent his life giving to the community around him including collecting for the local hospice lottery and working tirelessly as a volunteer Medicar driver, transporting patients to and from hospital. It is in recognition of Philip's kindness and generosity that I would like to run this marathon in his memory.

The British Heart Foundation is working everyday to fulfil its aim of seeing  a world where people no longer die prematurely from heart disease. Every £1 donated puts us one step closer to this world so please dig deep and donate now.

Thanks for your support

Steve.
