We support the growing number of people in and around Milton Keynes affected by a life-limiting illness. We give our patients and their loved ones specialist, personalised care - free of charge. Only 13.8% of our costs are met by ongoing NHS funding, so we’re dependent on your support. Thank you.

Story

Guess what?

It’s that time of year again when I start to pester you all for sponsorship.

I have decided this year to try and raise as much money as possible for the Willen Hospice in Milton Keynes.

As I am sure many of you are aware, my much loved brother, Steve passed away last March after fighting a very cruel illness at the age of 47, leaving behind two young daughters Alice and Evie.

The Willen Hospice provided wonderful staff who were extremely caring and compassionate and Steve was treated with much kindness and dignity, as were his wife Helen, their children and our family.

The Willen provided the great support that is needed during such a difficult time.

The Hospice itself needs to raise £3.4 million just to cover it's running cost and I was very surprised to find out that only 25% of these costs are met through the NHS (Primary Care Trusts) and that all other costs have to be met through fundraising!

SO THAT IS WHERE I COME IN!

I am planning to run the Milton Keynes Half Marathon on March 2nd this year (and I have again got the support of Lorraine who somehow managed to be talked into running it with me – she must have enjoyed our Moonwalk so much last year!!).

Steve was a very fit guy who was in training for an Iron Man Triathlon at the time he was first struck down with his illness, the thought of his sister huffing and puffing, very red faced whilst running 13 miles would have brought a huge smile to his face!

Thank you for your support

Luv Nicky
