Story

If possible, please leave your name when you donate as we will be giving out prizes during the record attempt and we wouldn't want 'Anonymous' donators to be left out!

On the 25th of March 2011, the StickTwiddlers team in partnership with Twitch Gaming and sponsored by Insert Coin Clothing, will attempt to break at least four world records simultaneously over the course of four days in an effort to raise money for the charity, Games Aid.

The five main records being attempted are:

  • Longest time spent playing an FPS game. (Halo Reach)
  • Longest time spent playing a Soccer game. (Fifa 2011)
  • Longest time spent playing Driving Game. (NFS: Hot Pursuit)
  • Longest time spent playing GTAIV.

StickTwiddlers will be looking to set all of these records at 51 hours or over as well as attempting to break several other records during their main attempts including:

  • Fastest time to 100% completion of GTA IV.
  • Longest time spent at highest wanted level on GTA IV

In addition to this, Connor from Twitch Gaming will also be attempting to break the world record for ‘Longest time spent playing an RTS’ on Starcraft 2.

During this event members of the public and gaming fraternity are invited to take part and set a record of their own with various records being made available for people to attempt to break over the entire weekend. Confirmed records available for attempts include:

  • Fastest Sprint Time on Kinect Sports
  • Furthest Javelin Throw on Kinect Sports
  • Fastest Hurdles Time on Kinect Sports

Details on other records that will be available for public attempts will be released over the coming weeks up to the event.

With media guests, fantastic giveaways and competitions, the event promises to be lots of fun for everyone who can attend and all in aid of a fantastic charity. The entire event will be live-streamed on the StickTwiddlers website which will also feature competitions and giveaways so people can still take part even if they can not attend.

Needless to say, the StickTwiddlers are very excited to be attempting these world records, especially for such a worthy charity, GamesAid.

“I’m very excited about teaming up with Twitch Gaming for this attempt. It’s great to be able to raise money for good causes by doing this and hopefully with some of the things we have planned, you guys will have as much fun as we will.”Alan

“It feels great to be taking part in such a task, especially for charity. Being able to do something you love to help a charity is fantastic.” Phil

“I’m massively confident that we will succeed at beating the current record AND raising a nice sum of cash for charity. I’m not looking forward to the flight up to Edinburgh though!”Stu

“I think this is a unique opportunity to do something special. We already sit around gaming all the time and now we can do it AND raise money for a deserving charity at the same time. It’s a win-win situation. Well. Apart from the whole ‘no sleep’ thing.”Micster

“Not only am I proud to be attempting this alongside some of the greatest people I know, but I’m proud that we are doing it for a fantastic charity. I’m hoping that the gaming community can prove once again that they are capable of some great things and can’t wait to get stuck in come March”Ben

Links will be placed on the StickTwiddlers and Twitch Gaming websites in order for people to make donations.
