Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Cardiff Marathon 1986, London Marathon 1987 and now Edingurgh, Dublin and Belfast to complete the capitals of the UK and Eire.

June 2011

Belfast completed and we didn't quite make the new target, although this site is still open until 25th June. So.... Off to Greece to run from Marathon on the coast, 26.2 miles, uphill 800ft to the plane of Athens and the finish. Something that Phillipides did a long time ago and Clive will do November 2011. The new page for this challenge is at www.justgiving.com/Phillipides2

November 2010

The Dublin Marathon must be the friendliest in the world. Crowds and crowds shouting you on and giving encoragement (daring you to walk) and with my name on the front of my vest, a real boost from all who shouted "Go on Clive". The target of £2000 has been exceeded so will hope to smash it into space when Belfast comes around. All who have donated so far have been thanked personally and this is another big thank you on behalf of TSA.

May 2010

So Edinburgh Marathon done on the hottest day in Edinburgh since 1463 (or something) with lots dropping out and one runner losing his life. With a time of 5 hours 40 minutes there is a lot to improve on for Dublin with a target of 5 hours. (fastest back in the 80's was 3 hrs 35 mins)

Just to answer a question that was asked recently, I am paying out of my own pocket for all my flights, hotels, meals and all other expenses for these three marathons so every penny that you donate goes to the Tuberous Sclerosis Association.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I guess you're wondering what TS is, I'm guessing you don't know because I didn't have a clue either. Tuberous Sclerosis is a genetic condition which can affect anyone. It can affect babies before birth and sometimes is not detected until they are a lot older.

Lewis, my grandson, was diagnosed before being born thanks to a scan. The tubers can grow anywhere in the body causing problems like epilepsy, as Lewis has, and/or learning difficulties and disability.

There is no known cure and no way of knowing how badly you or your child will be affected.

TSA, the Tuberous Sclerosis Association is a tiny UK charity who help families by:-

Keeping them connected and giving crucial support;

Help them to get the treatments and services they need;

Fund cutting edge medical research

So please dig deep and donate now.
