Once again we are fast approaching Christmas and it’s at this time particularly that we remember family and friends. The annual Light up a Life appeal has become a very important date in the calendar when you can light a candle as a tribute to your loved one at this special time of year. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to be a part of Light up a Life with us.
At Christmas time the Hospice is always beautifully decorated with lights and a star that will shine out each night throughout the festive period, clearly visible from Plymouth Hoe. Many people find that sponsoring one or more of the Light up a Life lights is a positive way of remembering someone special.
We also hold candlelit services of celebration and remembrance throughout the community and would love you to join us for one of those. At the celebration you will be given an individual candle to light in remembrance of your family and friends. There will be carols, prayers and readings (many read by the doctors and nurses, so you may see a familiar face), with mince pies and refreshments for you to enjoy afterwards. We have a variety of dates, times and venues to choose from again this year.
Last year by supporting Light up a Life you helped raise over £45,500, so thank you for that. Your help has made a significant contribution towards the cost of running St Luke’s and offering specialist nursing care to over 3200 patients and bereavement support to their families. We can only continue to do this with the generous support of people like you. If you already give to the Hospice, please accept our sincerest thanks. Your help really does make a difference.
