Pilgrimage to Canterbury · 5 April 2014

The St Mary's Reigate Community Building Project is an ambitious scheme to allow us to better serve our community in Reigate and overseas. The project includes the renewal of our Church Centre, overseas building projects, upgrading elements of the Church and refurbishment of our historic organ.

Story

When I moved to Reigate, I thought I would get out to walk regularly but that did not happen.  So, to motivate myself I decided to do a sponsored walk to Canterbury.  I then opened it up to the church as a pilgrimage over 5 days and there are now more than 10 people joining me.  We will walk up to 21 miles each day spending time with God's and each other in the countryside and churches along the way.

Since this time, the whole idea has gathered momentum and we have a prayer and support team behind the walk.  It's amazing to see what can be done when God is behind an activity.

We are raising money to fit out a prayer room in our new church centre at St Mary's.  This will be open to anyone who wants to come and find a quiet space for prayer and reflection. The money raised will help us to make it a very welcoming space where God's presence is truly felt.
