My story

 
To you all,

We’ve done it!!
On the 30th May we completed the Stockholm Marathon! We did it together and kept with each other all the way to the finishing line – the crowds were roaring, and because of our ‘very cool’ outfits, the commentator mentioned our names as we ran round the stadium track, which spurred us on for the last 500 metres. We both crossed the line at the same time of 3.37.32. We came 1,808 and 1,810 so were VERY happy as had started right at the back and therefore a serious bit of overtaking was needed. (Think we must have overtaken 10,000 + people in total!) We had seriously sore legs from the 20th mile but mentally we did it – keeping each other going in our union jack vests – ‘come on you British boys’, ‘... Go great Britain...’ etc etc! Looking back we loved it, an amazing experience and worth the long hard 4 months training!! It was absolutely boiling on the day about 30ºC but with the sea breeze we didn’t really notice and on we ran!! Having both sets of parents and a sister in the crowd was great for the morale and Stockholm is such a beautiful city. All-in-all a real experience/challenge. I would love to do another marathon – not sure Patrick would agree.

The support we’ve received has been truly amazing and we’re so pleased to have raised in excess of £4,000 for Rethink over the past few months, which is a great achievement in itself and Rethink are extremely happy.  We’re so grateful to everyone who donated to this brilliant cause.
