Story
I have risen to the challenge, again, but this time it is in memory of my Dad - I have always felt I owed him a marathon!
For those that didn't know him, he was an alcoholic, and a very heavy smoker for most of his life. Even after having his first stroke he didn't give up drinking or smoking, but the second stroke knocked some sense into him. He lost his mobility on the right side of his body and, more importantly, his speech. He fought back so hard to regain both his mobility and his speech - he gave up alcohol and cigarettes, and became the man that I remembered from when I was a very little girl. Loving, caring and very funny. I had my Daddy back, but, sadly, for a few short years only, before the third stroke took him from us. I am grateful for those last years, as I now have some very happy memories of him. He showed me what a fighter he was, deep down.
Every 5 minutes someone in the UK suffers a stroke, the affects of which are devastating, not only for the stroke patient, but for their families too. I want to raise £1500 to help those who are just beginning their fight, and to, hopefully, prevent others from suffering in the same way!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Stroke Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
