Thank you for visiting our Just giving page.
As you may know we are going to work for a charity called Hospice Africa in Uganda in a matter of weeks. In the meantime we're taking the opportunity to say farewell to the UK by cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End - thats roughly 950 miles in 14 days! We've been training hard on the bikes in the Yorkshire Dales whilst also packing up the house and getting ready for our next adventures in Uganda.
We're setting off on the 28th of August 2009 with Captain Roger and first mate Helen (Ruth's folks) in our super-duper motor home and hope to make it down to Land's End by the 11th of September before flying out to Uganda on the 16th.
Hospice Africa Uganda is the hospice model for Africa, offering culturally appropriate and affordable hospice care with a mission to also assist other initiatives in Sub Saharan Africa through service, training, research and networking. Palliative care (or end of life care) in African countries is often a neglected area of health care to which only a limited number of people have access. We wish to make use of our skills as a doctor and a pharmacist to assist the local health care team.
