My story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

Last year I was set a challenge - to become a 'proper Ben Nevis type hill-walker' whilst staying safe, having fun and getting fit.  My adventures, insights and comments can be found at www.countrywalking.co.uk - look under staff/blogs.

As I move from being a 'new walker' to a more experienced(!) and confident hill-walker I have found that there is no room for ego on the hills/mountains.  So how can I  complete my challenge without it being just about that?  More than just 'Hey, look at me - aren't I clever'?

Over the years I have known several people and families affected by cancer, including my own mum, and I'm sure many of you may have also been affected, or know people who have.  Marie Curie Cancer Care are exlemporary in the work they carry out and the care and support they give to so many and I am so proud to have been accepted onto their Ben Nevis Challenge on September 15th.  Now, as I trudge up the mountain I know that I'm helping to make a difference and that my sweat, tears and blisters will be worth every step in helping to raise every penny possible for this outstanding charity.

If you've been reading my blog (and hopefully that's what's led you here) or if you are a friend/colleague, you will know how much this challenge means to me and how, together, we can make a very real and practical difference in the world.

So please, dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Marie Curie Cancer Care will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Go on....sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
