Story

Hello!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising site! I'm running the London Marathon this year to raise money for the British Red Cross.

They are a fabulous charity and are part of the world's largest humanitarian network. Bad things happen in the world in countries less privileged than our own, especially as our luxurious lifestyles feed global warming and the consequential floods and famines. The Red Cross work in areas of disaster or famine worldwide. You will have seen their presence in these areas on the news, and may have noticed that the Red Cross being there made you feel better about the situation! They are currently working in Kenya in amongst the tribal unrest and in southern Africa where severe flooding has left tens of thousands of people homeless.

The Red Cross also work closer to home, again responding to emergency situations, helping vulnerable people and training people in first aid. All this makes it the perfect charity to donate money to!

I'm aiming to raise £2000. This will pay for 20 tents to house displaced families, eight hand pumps to provide water for a community in Zambia or 200 first aid kits for Red Cross volunteers. Your money really can make a difference!

To make it suitably challenging for myself, the family personal best is at stake here and I'm aiming to run it in 3hours 15minutes and to smash my Dad's best time.....

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Red Cross will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Please dig deep! A donation of any size really can make a meaningful impact on the life of someone less fortunate than ourselves!

Many thanks for your support.
