Story

Kirsty can ‘HACK’ it !!!

*For those who have visited before ;-) There's an update down below...*

Well I’ve done it folks...Firstly, thanks for taking the time and effort for visiting my ‘Just Giving’ Page.

As many of you already know, I’ve gone and signed myself up for the ‘NSPCC Hike against Cruelty to Kids’ (HACK).

I’ll attempt (yes, I stress the word ‘attempt’) to walk 21 miles up ‘The Malvern Hills’ in Worcestershire on Saturday the 26th of June.  As most of you probably know, I’m a Journalist and with the help and support of ‘Big City Radio’ – Birmingham, ‘Sunshine855’ – Ludlow and Sunshine FM’ – Hereford and Monmouth, I’m going to do my best to complete this walk for our nominated charity ‘The NSPCC’.

The charity run ‘Childline’ and ‘The NSPCC Helpline’.

They helped protect more than 730,000 children last year, but were still unable to answer every call.
We all hear the Khyra Ishak and Baby P stories...but instead of moaning about the Government/ Social Services/ The parents...let’s do something to try and give these children the voice they desperately need.

All funds raised will go towards the ‘Childs Voice Appeal’.

To find out more or join in on the day visit www.nspcc.org.uk/hack
Go on...you know you want to...give me some money and the motivation to get my big bum up that hill !

Thanks for taking the time to read this. If anyone fancies joining in or popping along on the day to offer support it will be greatly appreciated. I’ll keep you all posted with photos and news of my training (ha ha ha).

If you DO donate can I just say...thank you...thank you...thank you....I know how tight money is for most of us just now and it’s greatly appreciated. Wish me luck folks...I just hope I make it back down in one piece...take care and lots of love,

Kirsty xxx

UPDATE - Weds 19- 05-10
Training going okay...she coughs...Just wish I had more time and energy for it. Intending doing a practice run this weekend though. I stopped smoking two months ago though, so thats bound to have given me a bit more puff to get up the hill isn't it ?

Hope to get down to 'Childlines' offices here in Brum early next month. Will be great to actually meet the volunteers who man the lines and see what the money we raise is spent on. Keep ya posted on that one.

Have lowered my target now :-( I think perhaps ten grand may have been aiming "a wee bit too high" for my first ever official fundraiser. Hopefully will now hit it by 26th.

Thankyou everyone for your kind and generous donations so far. It means so much to me, the charity and most of all the children who will benefit from them.

Logged on this morning and was thrilled to see a donation from Jules...thanks honey...and yeah I will take that advice and get me a HUGE bottle of Radox. Do you know of anywhere that stocks new feet? I gotta feelin I may need pair of them too...he he he.

But you know what I'm gonna say here...Please keep those donations coming in. I'm doing this to raise money for MORE phone lines. I would love to get up into the thousands of pounds zone...

Be in touch soon with more news...and jeez those views better be worth the 21 miles...

UDATE - 11-08-10

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the delay but as most of you are probably aware by now I DID IT. All 21 miles !

Although I could not walk for 3 days after I am very pleased that I did the whole 21 miles (with the help of Roachy). It took me about nine hours but I did it ! Yay !! Have put some pics on for you all to see...

Thanks everyone for your much appreciated support and greatly received donations.

Take Care Kirsty xxxxxxx
