Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in support of the IRGH Night Nurse Appeal.
IRGH is a charity and all our services are completely free of charge to patients and their families. We need to recruit more nurses to develop our new night service. This will mean we can provide our unique service for an increasing number of local patients as soon as they need us.
Our nurses offer round-the-clock care in patients’ homes, giving families coping with life-threatening illness a lifeline at any time of the day or night. Our 24-hour service means that patients can contact a nurse at any time and they will come out to the patient’s home. With more dedicated night nurses we will be able to ensure everyone has access to this lifeline straight away and for as long as they need it.
We know that people diagnosed with a life-threatening illness would rather be cared for at home, as long as they do not feel a burden on their family. As a charity IRGH works with the primary healthcare team to create a care package tailored to each patient’s needs: whether that is supporting the whole family from diagnosis, throughout the illness and into remission - or during a patient’s final days and after their death.
As a charity we are hugely reliant on public support for nearly 90% of our running costs. By donating today, you will be making the choice to stay at home a reality for thousands of local patients.
Thank you.
IRGH was formed in April 2011 when two well-established hospices joined forces, following the successful integration of their patient services. Iain Rennie Hospice at Home (IRHH) and Grove House have a dedicated following in their local communities and many years’ experience of supporting local families to cope with life-threatening illness. Combining the best of both hospices puts us in a strong position to face tough care and funding challenges as patient numbers continue to increase but NHS funding does not.
