The story is a simple one, in that, for a while now I have been wanting to find a challenge (other than motherhood!) that would test me physically and mentally and that would take me to another part of the world I had never seen. So climbing Kilimanjaro, the highest stand alone mountain ( actually its a volcano) in the world at just over 19000ft seemed to tick all the boxes. On 28th February 2012 I will be leaving London and heading for Tanzania to trek to the top of this beautiful volcano.
I am raising money for a charity close to my heart, Smile Train and will mean that hopefully many children all over the world will benefit from me completing the challenge by having their cleft lip and palates repaired. If I can raise £5000, the lives of 33 children will be changed for the better as one operation costs just £150.
Your support is really important to me whether in the form of words, actions or donations so please please dig deep and help me to make a difference to as many children as we can. Thank you so much. Post trek Note:
Well I did it ... I summited oat 12.50 on March 8th and it was one of the hardest yet definitely the best thing I have ever done. Its good to challenge your mind and your body and this climb certainly ticked both boxes....The question is...What to climb next? Thank you again if you are doanating post the event. Every penny helps.
