Story

Hi -the target's technically been reached now but don't let that stop you!

I'm trying to raise money for a donation to the Red Cross to help the cholera crisis in Zimbabwe, as a Christmas present to my Mum's friend Sue, whose daughter is still in Zimbabwe, very ill.

For the full story:

Sue was a refugee from Zimbabwe, who now has residency in the town where my Mum lives.  She has breast cancer and it's fairly miraculous that she's still aive.  I suspect she is staying alive because her 14 year old daughter (who I won't name) is living in Zimbabwe with her 10 year old cousin. The woman who was taking care of these two kids was tortured for not voting for Mugabe, and died from her injuries.

Edit: They were also living with Sue's mother who had suffered several strokes.  Sue's mother died today (23rd December).

Sue's daughter now has suspected cholera.  We're working really hard to get her  daughter a visa to come and join her mum, and the Red Cross have said they will organise flights for her as soon as she has a visa.

We're seeing Sue at Christmas and somehow bath salts are not going to cut it.  I'd like to donate money to the Red Cross as a present, to help her daughter and thousands like her.  I'm pretty skint but figured between all the people I know in the Internetland, if everyone gave one pound, we could raise £50 to donate in Sue's name (possibly more, but that's my target).

I'd be really grateful for anything at all people can donate.

Thanks

Lizzie

(disclaimer: The Red Cross have the right to use the funds for whatever they like; but the cholera crisis is their current big appeal so it's most likely)
