Lifeblood provides public education to improve the understanding of thrombosis and funds scientific research into the diagnosis,causes,prevention and cure of thrombosis. It also works to further doctor's knowledge of thrombosis by workshops and conferences in the UK. It maintains a website www.thrombosis-charity.org.uk

My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page

Between 9th and 15th May 2009 I will be cycling from Congleton to Stirling to raise money for Lifeblood in memory of my good friend Jean's son-in-law, Rob, who passed away suddenly and prematurely in June 2008 from a pulmonary embolus at the age of only 37. Tragically his wife, Susannah, was 35 weeks pregnant at the time.

Any contributions, great or small, would be greatly appreciated by Lifeblood in order for them to take the important message of thrombosis awareness to both the public and healthcare professionals alike.

Lifeblood: The Thrombosis Charity endeavours to reflect all aspects of thrombosis care and research in the UK. The charity came about due to the lack of awareness amongst the general public, politicians, and health professionals of the dangers of thrombosis. Indeed thrombosis is arguably the largest cause of death in the UK, and probably in the developed world. The aims of the charity are to raise awareness and educate everyone about thrombosis and its prevention, as well as funding relevant research aimed at filling the gaps that exist in current medical knowledge
