Story

Four years ago I was in the middle of having treatment for breast cancer which finished on 24 May 2004.  Every year I do something to celebrate this anniversary and this year I walked 20 miles around Blenheim Palace on 31 May to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care, to remember my Mum and the women I met during treatment who sadly are no longer with us and to prove that there's still life in the old girl yet.

It was a wonderful day - I walked with my friend Dawn and her friend Trish who set a sterling pace from the start.  My 233 miles of training paid off as we crossed the finishing line in just over 7 hours and headed straight for the massage tent.  We met some lovely people especially the young girls we passed at about 16 miles who asked how we were able to make our legs go so fast - by that time we were on a roll and afraid to stop in case we couldn't get started again!

I've been overwhelmed by the amount of support I've received both sponsorship and help with training and from Dawn and Trish on the day (not forgetting my husband Dave who has been a bit neglected over the last 12 weeks but still took me to my favourite restaurant the following day).  Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would have raised over £1,000 before the event.

Thank you for taking taking the time to visit my fundraising page and many thanks for your support.
