We believe in the power of sport to transform young lives.

Story

As you may or may not know, us fantastic four have taken it upon ourselves to drive a mere 2,000 miles across India to raise money for two very worthwhile and wonderful charities - Access Sport and Frank Water.

It all sounds rather lovely, but did we mention that our vehicle of choice is an automated Rickshaw? For those of you who are not familiar with such a vehicle, allow us to expand... An automated rickshaw is a 3-wheeled vehicle loaded with a 150cc engine. At cruising speed she'll go at around 22mph, but at top speed this puppy will hit a breath-taking 31mph. Before you ask, yes it is a 3 to 1 ratio - all three of us shall be making the journey as a team in our one, hopefully trusty, rickshaw.

On 1 January 2011, as part of the Rickshaw Run, we depart Jaisalmer in North West India and aim to arrive in Cochin by the 16th January. Yes we've done the maths - it's around 130 painfully slow and bumpy miles per day.

We aim to raise a total of £10,000 across our two chosen charities, and in the run up to our departure we shall be running several awesome charity events to raise funds and give you the opportunity spend time with us before we depart on this magnificent [or some might say idiotic] 2000 mile Indian rickshaw road trip.

Access Sport provides disadvantaged children and young people access to high quality sport in the UK, giving them a focus in life and empowering them to turn their life around. Each of us recognise the importance of sport and the difference it can make to a child's life, both physically and mentally which is why we have chosen this worthwhile and well run charity. Frank Water Projects funds sustainable clean drinking water projects in developing countries across the world. Even before heading to India we recognise only too well the importance of a clean water supply and the wide-reaching deficit across parts of the world. Please click here to donate.

We hope that you'll join us in raising money for these deserving charities. We appreciate every donation, no matter how big or small. In the meantime, you can keep up to date with what we're doing by following our blog.

Access Sport is a registered charity. We make inclusion the norm by tackling the access barriers faced by disadvantaged and disabled young people, focussing on the causes of exclusion—not just the symptoms.
