Super 7 for the Alzheimer's Society · 10 September 2017

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

In 2019 I will be completing the final challenge, running the Greater Manchester Marathon in April dressed as Wonder Woman as we raised more than £4000 by midnight on 31st December 2018.

Hard running a marathon, going to be much harder and a tad embarrassing running in fancy dress.  If we raise over £4500 i will post some pictures but would love to get to £5000 raised for Super 7.

Throughout 2018, I completed a number of challenges to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society and support all the superheros who care for people with dementia.

I will be supported on these challenges by friends, family and colleagues and they may have asked you to support them via this page as well as we are collectively fundraising.

The 18 challenges all have a superhero themes and have included a sky dive, a marathon, trekking, obstacle races, half marathons as well as giving up alcohol, caffeine, cheese and crisps.

You can read about them all at https://www.facebook.com/superseven18/

Those with dementia require a huge amount of support and so will I, if you want to join me in any of my challenges and raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society or your own preferred charity.

I am training hard and supporting this charity for 2 reasons. One because of the memories of my grandma, and the difficulties she experienced with dementia in later life.  It was a tough experience to understand as a 13 year old boy, why someone you really loved and cared for didn't recognise you anymore.

Secondly for my wifes mum who is moving through the stages of this horrible disease and the stresses and strains it puts on everyone in the family. She now requires full time care at such a young age.

Anything we can do to support research in to this condition and support people with dementia and their family is a really worthy cause.
