Story

Thanks for checking out my page, I know there's always someone raising money for something so I appreciate you taking the time to read what I'm doing, no pressure to donate, but if you don't I'll laser-vision your ass!

So I've decided to raise money for the Velindre Cancer Centre this year, as I'm sure we all know someone that has benefited from this great place, and they need all the help they can get. Compared to what people go through who need to go there, running 13 miles in sweaty lycra is nothing.

I'm running the Cardiff Half Marathon on the 26th march, which is hosting the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships this year, which is pretty awesome!

As you all know, running a half marathon isn't a major challenge for me the last few years, so to make it more interesting I've decided to complete it in fancy dress. I then remembered that in my school year book I'd stated that one of the things I wanted to achieve in the future was to "break a world record", so here goes!

I've applied through the Guinness World Records team and had my application approved to attempt the world record for "Half marathon dressed in superhero costume (male)" at the Cardiff Half. The time I need to beat is 1hr 17mins 30secs, which was set by a chap in Canada in 2014...

My half marathon best time is 1hr 13mins, so there's 4 and a half minutes to play with, BUT on the 2 occasions I've run it in the past in a superhero costume, it's taken me 1hr 25mins, so a bit of work to do there!

I've opted for Superman as the chosen hero, mainly because he's about the only mainstream one that doesn't wear a mask, and running in a mask is horrible.

So! If you can spare anything to help boost the incentive for me to push through the sweat and chaffage and get that time, raising some money for a great cause, it would be very much appreciated!

Any support on the day would also be much appreciated, it'll be a great event to watch. You get to see Mo Farah! And you get to see the Man of Steel become the Man of Bleeding Nipple!

Mo may win and kick my ass, but he won't get a world record. I'm sure he'll be jealous.

So dig deep guys and gals, even just a quid would be great!!

Many thanks,

Oli
