Story
Cystic Fibrosis is an awful thing. I know because I've got it.
But apparently, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust are only a few years away from finding a cure. They have been trialing a bunch of gene therapy techniques with some success, but they are seriously lacking funds to reach the finish line. Meanwhile, people with CF continue to die - 3 people a week, in fact.
I consider myself to be one of the very lucky ones. I can eat what I like; I have a full-time job; I can run around and play sports. But there are thousands of people in the UK with CF that aren't so lucky. That's why I am raising money for the CF Trust.
My friend Ash and I came up with the idea of running a whole bunch of races, so that you all would think it's great and donate loads of your money. It's actually 6 races, and it's a total of 101 miles. We've called it the 'Super Six 101':
September 20th - BUPA Great North Run (half marathon - 13 miles)
October 11th - Bank of America Chicago Marathon (26 miles)
October 25th - BUPA Great South Run (10 miles)
February 21st - Sussex Beacon (Brighton) Half Marathon (13 miles)
March 21st - Hastings Half Marathon (13 miles)
April 25th - Virgin London Marathon (26 miles)
Total: 101 miles!!
A whole bunch of other people are also getting involved, jumping on the bandwagon and running with us. My buddy James Mohan ran in Chicago with us. Karl Whitfield and Dave Hartigan joined us in Portsmouth for the Great South Run. My fiance Siobhan, step-dad Duncan, and my friend Becky Martin is running with us in Brighton. My good buddy Pete Watkins in running in Hastings with us as well. It's just brilliant!
I know it's a recession and everyone is skint, but come on... dip into your pockets and give as much as you can.
Thank a bunch,
Rob et al.
