The Objects of CIVA are “to advance any purpose which is recognised as being exclusively charitable under the laws of every part of the United Kingdom”. CIVA specialises in taking good ideas and turning them into successful and sustainable programmes. The main thrust of our work at the present time is in the following areas: • The promotion of social entrepreneurship and support of social entrepreneurs. • Encouraging the participation of young people in issues that affect them as young people and in wider society. • Enabling poor communities to address issues and problems in their lives. • Addressing the needs of families and their health and wellbeing, especially young families and early years children, • Addressing the issues of environmental sustainability and climate change. • The advancement of mathematics. • Experimenting with and investigating new forms of sustainable finance in support of these objectives.

Story

Update - 7th September - Please note that this event is fully booked.  email bmetz@ashoka.org to be put on the mailing list.  do not donate on this page and expect to receive an invitation.  Thanks

I have great pleasure in inviting you to the next Supper Club.

The theme of the evening will be “Technologies for personal change and caring: a critical factor in addressing the looming environmental crisis???”

To confirm attendance you need to make a donation of between £5 and £20 on this page.  Only the first 25 donations will receive invitations to attend.  Funds raised will be held by the Centre for Innovation in Volunatary Action (CIVA) and used to fund/support future Supper Clubs.

We have a range of excellent and expert speakers lined up to kick the evening’s discussion off.  Confirmed so far are Tom Crompton who is running WWF’s Awakenings project (the role of psychology and marketing in addressing environmental challenges), Sandra White a Jungian and Eco-Psychologist and Stephen Fitzpatrick who will be talking about Social Dreaming, with one or two more presentations to be confirmed.  And, as usual, in the spirit of the Supper Club, please do drop me a line if you would like to take one of the 5-7 minute speaker slots on this topic.

Looking forward to seeing you on the 30th.
